On 27th December 2009, Rakan Masjid of Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) had organized a trip to International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) which is located at Gombak, Selangor.The objectives of our visit were firstly to share the knowledge and ideas on how to enhance the work quality of Rakan Masjid.

The second objective was to tighten the friendship between Rakan Masjid, UTP and Ma’ruf Club ,UIA. There are 34 participants including Drs. Ustaz Dawi Cahyono and his three children who joined the visit to UIA. All the participants comprises of high committee of Rakan Masjid, executive committee and representative from each Lajnah.


Before we depart, we had our breakfast at v2 cafeteria as doughnut and ‘nasi lauk ayam’ had been given to every participants. About 8.10 o’clock, we departed from Universiti Teknologi Petronas by bus. At 12.00 noon, we had arrived at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) .Our arrival was welcomed warmly by the representatives from Ma’ruf Club and we had our first session at the meeting room of Mahallah Bilal.

Our gathering was begin with doa recitation from the host followed by special welcoming speech from Ust. Muhammad Zaki Syukri who is the President of Ma’ruf Club for new session. Then, the President of Rakan Masjid, Mr Muhammad Akram Bin Ismail was invited to give his speech. It is not complete if we did not know each other. Taaruf session was handled by the chairman and all the committee in both parties were introducing themselves. Before we break for our lunch, everybody was entertained by slide representation of both clubs that ongoing for 10 minutes.


At 1.15 pm, we had our lunch at the cafeteria followed by Solat Zohor at UIA mosque. It is quite far to go to the mosque as we went there by bus. Our session was then continued with sharing session of both parties that was held at the mosque. There were many questions were asked by the representatives from Rakan Masjid and also Ma’ruf Club. From this session, we had gained more ideas on how Ma’ruf Club had done their job in order to fulfill their mission and vision even though there are some similarities between both sides. To make it more focus and clear, every committee was segregated into some small groups according to portfolio to discuss in more details. The discussion strolled for about 20 minutes.

After Asar prayer, we went for a road tour around UIA. As we were behind time, so we just went for a walk to take some pictures for our remembrance and also to get close with our new friends. The closing ceremony was held at the foyer. Even though it was just a short ceremony but it was very meaningful. Ustaz Dawi Cahyono had given his special thanks and souvenir to Ma’ruf Club for their pleasure service for us .The President of Ma’ruf Club also expressed his gratitude for our visit to UIA and gave their souvenir to Ust. Dawi.

At 6.15 pm, we went to Muhammad Abdul Mu’mins’ house in Gombak. It was 20 minutes journey from UIA to Mu’mins’ house. Before we had our dinner, ustaz Dawi Cahyono had given his grateful thanks to Mu’mins’ parents for their kind invitation followed by special speech by Mu’mins’ mother for our visit to her house. After Maghrib prayer, we went back to UTP and arrived at UTP at 12.00 o’clock. Although we were very tired with the trip, but it was clearly seen at our face that we were enjoyed with the trip.
All in all, this trip was very beneficial and meaningful to us.
