On 23rd January 2010, Rakan Masjid Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) had organized interfaith seminar which named as ‘Seminar Dinamika Dakwah Mahasiswa’. This event was started at 8.00 am and end at 5.30pm.It was conducted at Undercroft University Teknologi Petronas. Objective of this event is to expose the participants to be effective and to build awareness among university student to deliver Islam as the way of life especially to non-Muslim. It is also to produce university students that alert and excellent in basic belief of other religion. This seminar also aims to produce Muslim intellectual that able to create close relation to non-Muslim society.

This event was mainly organized for the university/ college students. This is the strategies to educate them on how to be a proactive dai’e to deliver Islam especially to non-Muslim.  The registration was held at Undercroft at 8.00am. There were 183 participants, 102 of them are ‘Muslimat’ and the rest are ‘Muslimin’. The seminar started with short briefing by the master of ceremony. At 9.00, the first paper work presentations delivered by Brother Lim Joii Sun entitle The Importance of comparative religion. Then, the session stops for 30 minutes for the morning break.

Proceed by second paper work presentation entitle the history of Christianity development. This presentation delivered by Brother Amin Yaacob. After that, Brother Amin talks about the Basic of Christians beliefs. From this presentation, the participant briefly got some information on basic belief of Christianity and the chronology of this religion. This knowledge is really worth and important in the way to get closer to Christians and delivered ‘nur’ Islam to them.

Seminar stopped for Zohor prayer and lunch. All participants pray at surau next to the hall. For lunch, ‘Muslimat’ have their lunch at Green Room while ‘Muslimin’ at Undercroft corridor. Everyone look enjoy with their food. At 2.30pm, the seminar continued by last paper work presentation entitles misunderstanding in Islam. This slot presented by Brother Lim Jooi Sun. In this slot, he opened the entire eye in the hall to be alert and be a proactive Muslim which is by doing research on Fiqh, tauhid and not just followed others. This is because there are many misunderstanding in Islamic concept applied by Muslim who is just followed without learn and do the research. At 4.00pm, there was a Question & Answers session which conducted by Ustaz Rahmat. This session come out with lot of questions and scenario regarding comparative religion and how to be a proactive da’ie. This shows a positive improvement that university student ready to play their role as da’ie in society.

There was a closing ceremony before the end of the program. This closing ceremony was officiated by Ustaz Dawi Cahyono bin Nurdin. After that, all participants were invited to have their tea break before they went back. This program was end at 5.30 pm.

This seminar is a good kick start to build awareness among university student to be a proactive da’ie not just to Muslim but also to non-Muslim society because everyone in the world are da’ie. As a Muslim, we need to share the beautiful of Islam to non-Muslim. We do not able to give ‘hidayah’ to them; however we can shows the ‘nur’ of Islam by create an intelligent discussion and get closer to them. Hopefully interfaith seminar like this could be organized again continuously and give benefit to all.
